Summer 2017  gateway to Governor's Island

Governor's Island opens to the public May 1, 2017 through October 1, 2017 seven days a week at 10:00 AM each day. The Island closes at 6:00 PM weekdays, and 7:00 PM weekends.

Passengers ride for free on Saturdays and Sundays until 11:30 am. Adult roundtrip fare is $2.00. Children under 13 ride for free and senior citizens’ fares are $1.00. There is no surcharge for bicycles.

Visitors will be able to purchase ferry tickets at the Battery Maritime Building in Lower Manhattan or at Pier 6 in Brooklyn. Advance tickets can be purchased on NY Waterways website.

The Battery Maritime Building  gateway to historic Manhattan

This 140,000 sq. ft. Beaux-Arts landmark building was completed in 1909 when ferries were still a vital means of transportation in New York City. Its many unique architectural assets include nearly 8,800 elements of cast iron, riveted rolled steel plates and angles, sheet copper ornamentations, ceramic tile and stucco paneled walls, and a copper panel mansard roof system.
